Sydney foursome, The Holidays, are pleased to announce a national headline tour in support of their highly anticipated, forthcoming debut album – Post Paradise.
The album, due for release 24 September, may have been a long time coming, but it has categorically been worth the wait. The first two singles, Moonlight Hours and Golden Sky, hinted at the exciting musical re-birth this band has taken over the past 18 months, yet do not …exclusively define the depths of this blissful musical journey.
Formed in 2007, the band quickly made their mark on the Australian musical landscape. The release of two EP’s at opposite ends of 2008 saw them scoring Triple J rotation, share stages with The View, Jamie T, The Temper Trap & Little Red, and regularly name-checked as one of the nation’s most promising new acts before bunkering down to prepare their long-player.
Post Paradise lead single, Moonlight Hours, sets the mood for what’s now been delivered in spades and in its complete context; a groove-based record full of summer vibes, elec-tropical dance floor anthems and mellow, breezy melodies. Moonlight Hours hit # 1 on Triple J’s playlist earlier this year, while remixes by Jonathon Boulet and The Swiss have also attracted generous lashings of hyperbole in the blogosphere. The latter appeared on a recent NME download Mixtape compiled by UK disco/electro wunder-kid Grum, and made much-loved Belgian re-mixers’ Aeroplane’s chart podcast. NME have taken notice with the band recently appearing in the magazine’s Buzz chart.
Joining The Holidays on tour is Papa Vs Pretty . Frontman Thomas Rawle alongside bandmates Tom Myers and Angus Gardiner are described as post-shoegaze, cherrypicking the best bits of ’60s and ’70s pop and peppering it with frantic guitar rock. Having just supported Surfer Blood on Splendour in The Grass side-shows the band has their debut EP Heavy Harm out now.

THE HOLIDAYS ANNOUNCE WINTER TOUR

The Holidays are pleased to announce they will be part of the Shady Haze of Winter Tour in August 2010, with Hungry Kids of Hungary & Artisan Guns.
Hungry Kids of Hungary will hit the road in August, embarking on, let’s call it, a pre-album release warm-up, bringing back to Aussie audiences what the world has been enjoying for the past two months. The band has toured extensively across America and the UK playing such famed venues as The Viper Room in Los Angeles, the Mercury Lounge in NYC, the Borderline in London and the Camden Barfly.
Entitled the Shady Haze Of Winter Tour, the jaunt boasts not only Hungry Kids’ magical pop prowess but also that of Sydney’s The Holidays and New Zealand’s Artisan Guns.
With singles ‘Golden Sky’ and ‘Moonlight Hours’ currently all over the radio, The Holidays are also gearing up and creating anticipation for their debut album due for release later in 2010. It might be cold outside but their summer vibes and electropical dance numbers will certainly warm things up.
Similarly so with NZ’s Artisan Guns whose debut EP Hearts has pricked ears across their native and they now continue their foray into winning over Australia with their quirky pop-folk infusion.

——————————————————————————————————————-THE HOLIDAYS ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE AND HEADLINE TOUR DATES
Sydney quartet The Holidays announce East Coast headline dates to coincide with the release of their imminent new single Golden Sky. Summer’s throes may have vanished but the band has emerged from their Sydney studio with another sun-drenched tune that channels warm nights and cloudless skies. Golden Sky, delivered to radio shortly, blends wild percussion, sing-a-long chant choruses, falsetto vocals and squawking guitars into an action packed, yet equally sublime journey. It comes hot on the heels of the acclaimed single Moonlight Hours, which reached # 1 on Triple J’s playlist earlier this year and re-configured the band’s musical GPS.
It consolidates the band’s foray into an exciting new direction that genuinely stakes their claim as one of the most exciting new bands in the country. Moonlight Hours’ remixes by Modular new kids on the block Jonathon Boulet and The Swiss have also attracted generous lashings of hyperbole in the blogosphere. The latter recently appeared on an exclusive NME download Mixtape complied by UK disco/electro wunder-kid Grum, and made much-loved Belgian re-mixers’ Aeroplane’s February Chart podcast. Golden Sky will sit comfortably alongside its predecessor on The Holiday’s long-awaited, forthcoming debut album, which is nearing completion and has been self produced by the band and mixed by Tony Espie (Midnight Juggernauts, Cut Copy, Avalanches).
The album is shaping up to be a thrilling musical ride traversing a myriad of influences and genres that ultimately will see light of day as a groove-based record full of summer vibes, elec-tropical dance floor anthems and mellow, breezy melodies.
More recently, the band has premiered the addition of a live percussionist on their current national tour with Bluejuice to great responses. These shows will give fans a chance to check out the captivating new Holidays live experience and sample of the bulk of their exciting debut album. Support comes from hotly tipped Sydney troubadour Ernest Ellis
